On Friday & Saturday, July 25 & 26, 2019 Dr. Serena Hu, Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery &, by courtesy, of Neurosurgery at the Stanford University Medical Center, spent two days at the JDC’s XXX XXX Clinic at AaBet Hospital in Addis Ababa.  Dr. Hu is a recognized expert in the field of orthopedics with more than 15 published articles to her credit.  For a number of years Dr. Hu and Dr. Rick Hodes have collaborated as professional colleagues and board members of the Spine Xxxxx Xxxxx.  Dr. Hu and her family spent two days in Addis Ababa and then traveled on to the Xxxx Hospital, Akra, Ghana to consult with Dr. Xxxx Boachie at his acclaimed spine surgery center.

During her two day visit Dr. Hu, Dr. Hodes, their colleagues and staff evaluated more than 30 patients.  Their work included patient physical exams incorporating CAT scans, MRI studies, X-Ray and lab results. Dr. Hu collaborated with Dr. Rick in making recommendations for patients who could be eligible for surgery both in Ethiopia, Ghana and the United States.
