45 Lives Changed Through Complex Spine Surgery in Ethiopia

Today, we celebrate another remarkable milestone.

Our volunteer surgical team successfully completed 45 complex spine surgeries, bringing hope, healing, and a new future to children and young adults suffering from severe spinal deformities. This achievement was made possible through the dedication of 20 international volunteer professionals who generously donated their time, expertise, and compassion.

In recognition of this extraordinary commitment, Ethiopia's Ministry of Health honored Dr. Ted and the surgical team with an award acknowledging their years of dedication and service to Ethiopian patients. This recognition reflects the profound impact your support has helped make possible.

One of the patients whose life was transformed is Rabia, a 24-year-old mother of two from Dessie. Since infancy, Rabia lived with a severe spinal deformity that left her spine bent at nearly 90 degrees. The condition affected her health, mobility, confidence, and daily life. For years, she was told that nothing could be done to help her. Everything changed when she learned about our spine outreach program. Today, after receiving life-changing surgery, Rabia is looking forward to a future free from the stigma and limitations she has carried for most of her life. For the first time, she can imagine a different future for herself and her young family.

These life-changing interventions are only possible because of your generosity and partnership.

Thank you for standing with us and helping restore health, dignity, and opportunity to patients like Rabia. As the need remains great, we ask for your continued support so that together we can reach even more patients waiting for their chance at a new life.
